Lisa

Age: 40

Education: Master's degree in accounting

Hometown: Weiswampach, Luxembourg

Family: Married, one child

Occupation: Accountant

I’m in favor of solid knowledge that allows building a prospective career.
And a teacher’s professionalism plays an important role, as well as their approach to teaching
  • Lisa is a 40-year-old accountant. She lives with her husband Oliver, 42, a financier, and their child Lucas, who is 10, in Weiswampach, Luxembourg.

  • Parents have busy work schedules, sometimes including weekends.

  • Lisa is concerned about Lucas's school performance in math and physics. She wants to hire tutors in these subjects.

  • The family prefers only offline lessons, and considering that they live 90 km away from the city center, it is quite difficult to find an experienced and reliable teacher near their residence.

  • For Lisa, it would be easiest to be able to book/change times and dates online, since Lucas is a professional soccer player and soccer matches often make schedule changes.

Frustrations:

  1. Possibility to organize offline classes near their town.

  2. Ability to book/change class times online.

Goals:

  • to find experienced and reliable tutor (ability to check the teacher's rating, education and feedback from previous students)

Problem statement:

Lisa is a educated and caring mom,

who needs to find a qualified and experienced educator for her son, because she believes a solid knowledge of math and science is important

Victor

Age: 28

Education: MBA in Engineering

Hometown: Leudelange, Luxembourg

Family: Single

Occupation: Engineer

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard
  • Victor is a 28-year-old engineer. He lives in Leudelange, Luxembourg.

  • He works for an international company with a headquarter in Shanghai, China.

  • He is looking for a Chinese language tutor to improve his professional language skills.

  • His biggest pain point is the lack of free time due to frequent business trips and busy work schedules.

  • For Victor, it would be convenient to take classes online (even while on business trips) and have the flexibility to reschedule classes (due to unexpected meetings or tight deadlines).

  • The tutor should be a native Chinese speaker (with excellent pronunciation).

Frustrations:

Difficulties in flexible scheduling of classes

Goals:

  • To find native Chinese speaker tutor;

  • Online lessons

Problem statement:

Victor is a young, hard working and busy man with excellent career prospects,

who needs to find a qualified tutor with a flexible schedule to improve his language skills for a future career

Eugenia

Age: 32

Education: Master's degree in pedagogy

Hometown: Strassen, Luxembourg

Family: Married, three kids

Occupation: Piano teacher

Your greatest resource is your time”
  • Eugenia is a 32-year-old music teacher, who lives in Strassen, Luxembourg.

  • She gives private piano lessons for children and adults.

  • Eugenia's biggest pain point is the difficulty in planning her schedule due to many students rescheduling or canceling classes at the last minute before class starts. Thus, there is no chance for her to take another student at that time.

  • For Eugenia, it would be nice to find a solution that allows students to reschedule and cancel classes in advance or get pre-paid.

Frustrations:

  1. To have option be informed about rescheduling/canceling classes in advance

  2. Get pre-paid

Goals:

  • To have possibility plan her working day effectively

Problem statement:

Eugenia is a piano teacher,

who needs to find a solution that allows students to reschedule and cancel classes in advance (or get pre-paid), because she wants to plan her working day effectively

Findings (insights)

after conducting a Usability Study

Key findings

The Tutoring services app has been designed to facilitate tutor-student interaction, including easy booking and canceling of lessons for both parties.

The payment system, is beneficial for both students (who can cancel lesson 24 hours in advance with a refund) and tutors (who can get informed 24 hours before the lesson starts and plan the timetable accordingly).

Tutor's profile provides detailed information about their education, experience, price of tutoring services and rating among other tutors.
